Robing Ceremony for the New Mayor of Malmesbury, Councillor Stephen James

We are delighted to share pictures from the new Mayor Councillor Stephen James, Robing Ceremony on the 20th May 2025.

In attendance on the evening was Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire Piers Dibben, Inspector Scott Anger and PC Kyle Lloyd of Wiltshire Police. Reverend Oliver Ross and other newly inaugurated Mayors of Calne and Royal Wootton Bassett.  Along with many of the Mayor’s friends and family.

Our new Councillors also attended the evening - Cllr Mubashir Akhtar, Cllr Jumana Akhtar, Cllr Olivia Wallis and Cllr Helean Hughes.

We also welcomed Councillor Robert Hastings as the new Deputy Mayor. With his partner Barbara Firth as Deputy Mayoress. 

Rosa Clough was appointed Mayoral Cadet for the year.

Councillor James has chosen to raise money for Malmesbury Foodbank and HEALS of Malmesbury throughout his Mayoral year.

It was a remarkable event, upholding traditions in this unique Town known for its rich history.
