A 'Friendship Tour' to Malmesbury by members of Bad Hersfeld Friends of Malmesbury will take place on Friday 29th & Saturday 30th of August. About 20 members of the group will be visiting, with one member Mr Kai Struthoff making the 1000 kilometre journey by e-bike!
Kai is the senior editor of Bad Hersfeld's local newspaper ' Hersfelder Zeitung' and is making the journey to raise crowd funding for a further visit of young people from Bad Hersfeld's youth fire department to Malmesbury in 2026.
Kai and his bike, will be taking part in Malmesbury's Carnival parade on Saturday 30th August. His journey will commence on Thursday 21st August, he plans to arrive in Rotterdam by Sunday evening for a ferry to Harwich. Kai will then cycle north past London to Malmesbury via Cambridge and Oxford. He aims to cycle about 120km a day. He will be camping enroute or staying with friendly fire departments.
