We are delighted to share pictures from the new Mayor Councillor Robert Hastings, Robing Ceremony on the 28th May 2026.
In attendance on the evening was the new Mayoress of Malmesbury, Barbara Firth, Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire Piers Dibben, Cllr Ruth Hopkinson Vice Chair of Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue and Wiltshire Police. Reverend Oliver Ross and other newly inaugurated Mayors of Calne, Tetbury, Westbury, Devizes, Highworth, Trowbridge, Warminster, Chippenham and Royal Wootton Bassett. We also had the Drummers from the Colonel Nicholas Devereux's Regiment of Foot 'drum in' the new Mayor!
We also welcomed Councillor Karen Drake as the new Deputy Mayor. With her husband David Drake as Consort.
Rosa Clough was appointed Mayoral Cadet for the 2nd year running.
Councillor Hastings has chosen to raise money for Malmesbury Foodbank, HEALS of Malmesbury and Malmesbury Abbey Music Society throughout his Mayoral year.
It was a remarkable event, upholding traditions in this unique Town known for its rich history.
