Last week Malmesbury was planning to be hosting a visit from its twin town Neibull, in Germany, culminating in a Civic Reception at Malmesbury Town Hall on Friday evening but the visit had to be postponed because of the COVID 19 pandemic. Instead Malmesbury’s friendships with its four twin and friendship towns has been boosted by a Virtual Friendship Celebration organised as a replacement.

Retailers in Malmesbury have welcomed the return of shoppers to the High Street and town centre following re-opening of non-essential shops on 15 June. Many have reported an increase in customer confidence following the social distancing measures put in place by retailers and the combined efforts of Malmesbury Town Team, Malmesbury Town Council and Wiltshire Council in time for the first day of trading.
