Malmesbury elect new Mayor and Deputy Mayor

Malmesbury has elected its new Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

Deputy Mayor Campbell Ritchie was voted in as the town's new Mayor unanimously at its town council meeting held on Tuesday 5th May. Councillor Paul Smith was voted in as Campbell’s Deputy Mayor.

Malmesbury Town Mayor, Councillor Julie Exton

Many residents will already know that our Mayor, Councillor Julie Exton has recently had a heart attack. We are very pleased to say that Julie is now at home recovering and is expected to make a full recovery over time. Unfortunately, however, Julie is unlikely to be able to return to her Mayoral and councillor responsibilities for the time being. Deputy Mayor, Councillor Campbell Ritchie will therefore deputise for Julie for the foreseeable future.

For more than two and a half millennia successive generations have populated this hilltop, which forms the centre of the community we now call Malmesbury.
