For all of you who have spent some of lockdown having a spring clean there is good news from Wiltshire County Council.
Wiltshire’s household recycling centres (HRCs), bar Stanton St Quintin, will reopen on Monday 18 May with an easy to use postcode entry system to system to help limit the number of people and ensure social distancing.
Please be aware that The Stanton St Quintin site will however remain closed at present.
Stanton St Quintin HRC remains closed as the number of car parking spaces has been significantly reduced. This, along with the already difficult traffic management issues at the site, means that we cannot safely open the site at this time. This will be kept under review .We recognise that this will be frustrating for local residents.
People who would usually use Stanton St Quintin should travel to an alternative site such as Purton, Melksham or Lower Compton.
People should also bring proof of address in order to use the household recycling centre.
People will only be allowed entry to visit Wiltshire’s HRCs on the days that correspond to the first part of their postcode. For example,SN16 postcodes can access these sites on: Tuesday 19th May, Thursday 21st May Saturday 23rd May…. See below.
People can visit any Wiltshire HRC on these days. Residents are reminded to check the opening times before setting off as all of the sites have different opening times.
To keep staff and residents safe, there are a significant number of changes in place to ensure social distancing can be maintained at all HRCs, including:
- Visitors must keep at least two metres from others at all times.
- One person per car.
- No entry for trailers or large vans over 3.5 tonnes.
- Vehicles allowed on site on a ‘one in, one out’ basis.
- No pedestrian access.
- HRCs cannot accept soil, rubble, plasterboard, textiles or asbestos during this initial reopening phase.
Don’t bring recyclable materials that can be collected through the council’s kerbside recycling collection service.
