After a very sucessful and enjoyable WOMAD 2007, Malmesbury stands ready to welcome WOMADians back in 2008. Hopefully the weather will be a little kinder and the mud a little drier, but Malmesbury will certainly be on hand to welcome back the 40,000+ WOMADians who visited the fields of Charlton Park in 2007.

WOMAD 2008 had been confirmed to take place from 25 - 27 July 2008. The line-up is shaping up and it looks like Malmesbury will be playing host to Boy George, Shane MacGowan of Pogues fame, Finley Quaye, Squeeze, Show of Hands, Eddie Grant and numerous acts from around the world. Don't forget, if you live in the area you can get discounted SN16 local resident tickets for just £60.
Wondering what else to do while at WOMAD? Why not take a walk into Malmesbury, just 10 minutes away from the festival boudary is a High Street packed with unique shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Why not stay a little longer and make a week of it? Stay in one of our many hotels, guest houses or farm houses and visit the numerous attractions in and around Malmesbury. Want to go for a walk or a cycle ride? Take a trip to our Tourist Information Centre and pick up a guide to local walks and cycle routes. Interested in local history, come to the Town Hall and visit Athelstan Museum, a bright and vibrant space telling the story of Malmesbury, the once capital of all England.

WOMAD was quickly renamed WOMUD by all those who attended Charlton Park in 2007! But we are assured that WOMAD 2008 will be a dry and sunny festival!
Don't forget to check out the Mayor's Parlour within the charity stalls. In 2007 we gave away 1,500 litres of Innocent Smoothie - and all we asked was for a donation to our Town Hall appeal. Who know's what we'll be ginving away this year!! |
