I am 64 years of age and my wife (Lyn) & I have lived in Malmesbury for nearly eleven years. We have three grown up children & three grandchildren. I retired from my full time career in March 2001.
Since then I have been running my own small garden maintenance business. For a short time I acted as verger for the Abbey Church and I have always taken a strong interest in local government. My leisure time is spent with the GW Steam Railway, in stamp collecting, and listening to jazz piano.
Much of my working career was spent as a project manager procuring large, costly, and complex equipment, and it is the experience acquired from that which I am able to bring to my role as one of your town councillors. Also I firmly believe that politics has no place in parish & town councils.
I welcome Wiltshire County Council becoming a Unitary Authority and the efficiency improvements this should bring, one of which I hope will be opportunities for your town council to accept responsibility for managing more of our own local affairs. Also I am keen to ensure that the health needs of our community continue to be represented not just to the Wiltshire Primary Care Trust, but also to the Swindon & Marlborough Hospital Trust (Great Western Hospital) of which I am a member, & which is used by many in our community.
May I thank those of you who elected me to the Malmesbury Town Council in May 2007. I view it as a privilege and an honour, & I look forward to serving as one of your councillors for the next few years. |
