Much has been made of confidential and private meetings held between members of Malmesbury Town Council and local developers and business people. In an effort to dispel the rumour and gossip that suggest that councillors are doing private deals with developers and looking to create monstrous new developments on every square inch of Malmesbury with a supermarket on every corner, please find below the notes of meetings held between members, officers and developers interested in seeking the views of your representatives.
Please be assured that we probably want pretty much the same thing you want, a Malmesbury that is sustainable, vibrant, diverse, attractive to residents and local enterprise and one in which those who choose to live here will want to stay here and bring up their families here.
One further meeting has taken place more recently with a local businessman at which members were appraised of his thoughts as to the use of his land and existing planning consent. Members were assured that his ambition for his land would bring significant employment opportunities to local people and would serve our community well. The notes are currently commercially sensitive and are not ours to release. When we are advised that they are no longer sensitive, we shall, of course, publish notes regarding this meeting.
