MAP was formed in 2007 by Judy Jones and some enthusiasts:
to encourage others to walk on local Rights of Way (ROW)
to survey local ROW and report problems of signage, maintenance or access
to identify opportunities for improvements to ROW
to publicise relevant information
MAP is a network of people interested in supporting these aims without a formal structure. To share information and plan action we meet on the last Thursday of each month at 7pm in the Rose & Crown, High Street and enjoy a drink and a chat.
Achievements so far:
survey of ROW to east and south of Malmesbury submitted to Wiltshire Council for action
as a result signs erected, new/repaired stiles, new footbridge, disused bridleway cleared
local DIY clearance, way marking and repair
identified three improvement plans
assisting SUSTRANS to develop a cycle way from Baskerville to Cowbridge and identified the funding available for this
obtained grant from Carnival for publication of local walkers guide
