I have lived and worked in and around Malmesbury since 1994, moving into the town in 2007, married with 4 children.
My background is varied in that I have qualifications in medical physiology, audiology, cardiology, neurophysiology
and emergency combat medicine but I am also a qualified electrician. I have worked for central government, the NHS,
British Army, English education system and private medical suppliers.
I also have some years experience in company acquisition and disposal as well as business start up and development.
I have worked as a trained negotiator and trouble shooter corporately, mostly for German companies.
I do not see myself as a politician and on joining the council had not expected this label, very much I would have preferred the council to be apolitical
as the majority of councillors are unpaid, seeking to do the best for their community.
This said I won my school debating contest for several years running and have been in and out of the house of commons since 1985.
I have directly participated in central politics including the NHS white paper, Health Building Note 27 to 57 and
Defence committee consultations. I currently assist as deputy chair person of Malmesbury Conservative association.
I currently chair the skate park development group along side Wiltshire councillors, staff and interested local people
but very much on behalf on what the centre is and will be about, the young people who are being encouraged to
undertake the work and make their own decisions.
My personal view that the community is often best served when councillors are seen but not heard to loudly,
working quietly behind the scenes to help achieve things by the community
that the community has decided it wants.
It was an honour to be invited to join SPLASH as a trustee, an extremely worthwhile charity
which seeks to prevent young people falling into a downward spiral
through activity and challenge in Wiltshire in a proactive manner.
I love Malmesbury and I am passionate about the unique environment I have chosen as my adoptive home, especially with a view to the environment.
The picture on my profile is from my wedding day, April 2011 in Malmesbury Abbey.
My hobbies and interests are Astronomy, Woodwork, Sailing, Sub Aqua Diving, Morgan cars, Off Roading, Technology, Reading, Philosophy, Poetry, Indoor Rowing, Charity.
